SPEAKERS NIGHT 2008
Bannockburn held their 25th Annual Speakers Night on Sunday 16th
November at The Tartan Arms and yet again a fantastic night was had by
all. It may not be the biggest speakers night to be held but it
has the reputation for being one of the best organised in the country
and once again this showed on Sunday.
Gordon McColl introduced the top table guests, Jim Reid (Honorary
Chairman of BAFC), Willie Gibb (M.C.) and the invited speakers of Eric
Davidson, Paul Reid and Willie Allan. Wee Gibb made his customary
welcome speech and then the punters were treated to the usual top
quality five course meal.
Joe Smith carried out auctioneer duties as the club auctioned off a 4
ball at Gleneagles which was donated by Clark Campbell of C.A. Models,
a signed Rangers top donated by Stuart Maitland and a signed/framed
Celtic top donated by Gus McGregor of Aims Facilities. Ross
Donald was top bid for the golf and Archie Mackay was duped into buying
both signed football tops.
All attendees were then treated to a tremendous evening's entertainment
courtesy of the three speakers who were all in sparkling form.
Arguably the best combination of speakers to have been at the
function.
Special mention to Danny Lochrie and wee Napper for press ganging the
punters at the start of the evening as they sold the big football card
and also to Billy Bell for the hard task of the vote of thanks at the
end of the night.
The club would like to thank all their sponsors who continue to support
the club and also all the punters who continue to attend our speakers
night and make it such a success.

CHARITY DAY 2008
Bannockburn Amateur Football Club once again held a successful charity
day in early August. The main event was a football tournament
involving the senior Bannockburn side, Bannockburn U'19's, Bannockburn
veterans and the well known team of ex professionals, Dukla Pumpherston
who were all competing for the "HOOKIE" McCabe Memorial Trophy which is
sponsored by Derek Robertson from Robertson Training. At the end
of the day the trophy was retained by the Bannockburn senior team.
Various charity fundraising activities had been going on and when
all were totaled up the sum of £500 was raised. A great effort
from all involved. The chosen charity this year was Yorkhill Childrens
Foundation and this decision was made after consultation with one of
the clubs players, John McIntyre.
